RAINY LAE POEM
By Sylvester Gawi
In Lae, the skies are heavy, gray,
The rain falls down in soft ballet,
A gentle hum, a whispered tune,
That soaks the streets from noon to noon.
The mountains hide in misty veils,
The breeze brings stories, ancient tales,
Of rivers swollen, wide and deep,
Where jungle secrets softly sleep.
Each droplet tells of seasons past,
Of Lae's rich soil, of roots that last,
A city born from rain’s embrace,
A thriving hub in nature’s grace.
Yet still the heart of Lae beats strong,
Through every storm, through every song,
For in the rain, there's life anew,
And in its dance, the skies are blue.
